What Corner is

Corner is a platform for organising small, in-person conversations at cafés and public spaces. It connects people who want to talk — not network in the transactional sense — around questions they're genuinely sitting with. We facilitate discovery; we don't run events ourselves.

Who is responsible for what happens offline

Corner is a technology platform, not an event organiser. When you meet someone through Corner — whether you hosted or joined — you are meeting another independent adult in a public place. We are not present at these meetings. We do not vet, certify, or guarantee the identity, intentions, or behaviour of any user.

What happens outside the app — at the café, before, during, or after the corner — is between the people involved. Corner bears no liability for:

  • Any in-person interactions, disputes, or incidents arising from a meeting facilitated through the platform
  • No-shows, cancellations, or changes to a corner by the host
  • The accuracy of information a user provides about themselves or their intentions
  • Any loss, damage, or harm — physical, emotional, financial, or otherwise — that occurs offline
  • Actions taken on third-party platforms (WhatsApp, maps, etc.) linked from within Corner

You are responsible for your own safety. Always meet in public places. Trust your instincts. If something doesn't feel right before or during a corner, you are free to leave.

Joining and hosting

When you join a corner, you are making a commitment to another person — the host — who has set aside time and reserved a spot for you. Please only join if you genuinely intend to show up.

If your plans change, free your seat as early as possible so someone else can take it. Repeated no-shows without cancelling may result in your account being restricted.

Hosts set the topic, time, and location. By joining, you accept those terms. If the host changes details or cancels after you've joined, Corner will display the update but is not responsible for any inconvenience caused.

Conduct at corners

Corner is built on the assumption that people are genuinely curious and willing to listen. We ask everyone who uses the platform — hosts and joiners — to:

  • Come with curiosity, not an agenda to sell or recruit
  • Respect the time and presence of everyone at the corner
  • Not record conversations without the explicit consent of all participants
  • Not share personal details shared in conversation without permission
  • Treat other participants with basic dignity and respect

We reserve the right to suspend or remove any user who violates these norms or who is reported for harmful behaviour, at our sole discretion.

Contact details and WhatsApp

Corner may share a host's WhatsApp number with confirmed attendees to enable coordination (e.g. “I'm running 5 minutes late”). This is strictly for logistics around the corner you have joined. Using contact information obtained through Corner to solicit, market, spam, or harass is a violation of these terms and may result in immediate suspension.

You can control whether your number is shared more broadly by toggling your WhatsApp visibility in your profile settings.

Your content

The information you add to your profile — your name, what you're working on, what you're curious about — is visible to other users on the platform. By using Corner, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display this information to other users for the purpose of facilitating connections. We will never sell your data to third parties.

No guarantees

We do our best to keep Corner running reliably, but we make no guarantee of uptime, data preservation, or uninterrupted service. The platform is provided as-is. We are a small, independent product — not a corporation with an army of support staff.

We also make no guarantee that any corner will result in a meaningful conversation, a lasting connection, or any specific outcome. That part is up to the people at the corner.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Continued use of Corner after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If we make a significant change, we'll note it at the top of this page with a new date.

Questions

If you have questions about these terms, reach out to us directly. We're human and we're reachable — that's kind of the whole point.
